Wuxi gears up for 12th Sports Meeting

The opening ceremony of Wuxi's 12th Sports Meeting will take place at the stadium of the Wuxi Sports Center on Oct 14.

With its theme of "sports make people healthier", the quadrennial event will feature 6,000 athletes competing in 29 sports.

The athletes will be divided into 4 groups: A teenager group, worker's group, elderly group and disabled group.

At a press conference held at Wuxi Civic Center on Oct 12, the emblem for the games was officially unveiled. It was designed by Lai Lifan, a college girl from Wuxi-based Jiangnan University.

This year's sports meeting is sponsored by SK Hynix Semiconductor Company (China), an overseas subsidy of South Korea's memory chip manufacturer SK Hynix located in Wuxi New District.
