Hohhot aims to transform the city into a global tourism destination and develop tourism as a pillar industry, according to the recently held Hohhot Tourism Industry Development Conference.
“With the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China around the corner, local governments of all levels and relevant departments need to roll up their sleeves and work harder, and lead the way in developing tourism,” said Yun Guangzhong, Party secretary of Hohhot, speaking at the conference.
Feng Yuzhen, acting mayor of Hohhot noted that Hohhot will gather statistics on tourism resources like cultural relics and improve the long-term development plans by the end of this year.
There are no 5A-class tourist scenic spots in the city, said Feng, urging them to put more effort into improving key scenic spots.
The city will put more efforts towards attracting investment and building demonstration areas of cultural tourism, he added.
