Inner Mongolia received 10.6 million tourists during the Golden Week with a year-on-year growth of 24.5 percent and made 8.33 billion yuan ($1.27 billion) in tourism revenue, an increase of 38.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
Among tourists, 74.3 percent of them chose self-guided traveling, and nearly 45.9 percent took the way of self-driving, resulting from the toll free policy of highways during the official holidays.
Statistics implied that people were more inclined to countryside activities such as cross-country cycling, outdoor barbecue, mountain hiking, and fruit picking, according to local tourism development department.
Regional supervision administrations have regulated services and facilities at tourism spots earlier before the beginning of the National Day holiday, to guarantee the flow of tourists.
