Overall passenger traffic of Baita International Airport in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region rose by 28.1 percent year-on-year to a new record of 270,200, during the eight-day National Day holiday break.
Based on the traffic statistics from Carnoc.com, one of China's largest civil aviation web portals, the number of take-offs and landings increased by 25.2 percent to approximately 2,474. Freight turnover was also up by about 12.8 percent to 636.7 tons.
With 35,965 passengers, October 8 was the busiest day in the history of Baita International Airport.
The growth in passenger traffic at Baita International Airport was buoyed primarily by the strong gains in domestic traffic. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Sanya remain as the popular cities. Strong increases were also seen in the numbers of travelers flying to and from Harbin, Kunming, and Xiamen.
