Sanmenxia continues to strengthen environment recovery projects in the Yellow River Wetland and has recently made progress converting mine wasteland into green spaces through the utilization of a 46 million yuan ($6.9 million) investment.

A 100-day mission was set by the Sanmenxia municipal government in August to expedite the ecological management of the national nature reserve, in the process converting 157 hectares of mines into green spaces with 94,100 trees and 18,200 kilgrams of grass seeds.

According to the plan, coal cinder removal and soil treatments were completed in September. Biological control measures, such as vegetation restoration, watering and maintenance, are scheduled throughout October, with the full project expected to be complete by Nov 17.

Unapproved earth dams and unauthorized tourist facilities have also been removed in the wetlands. The Sanmenxia Reservoir's dams have been cleaned to get ready for the impoundment.
