Sanmenxia continues its boom

Sanmenxia, an emerging industrial city developing close to the Sanmenxia Dam, a large water-conservation project on the Yellow River, has made significant advances in the past year.

Confronting increasingly serious environment pollution and scant resources, the city has made bold innovations by developing new industries, characteristic agriculture and modern services and forming advantages in biological medicine.

Partnerships have been established with famous companies, such as China's leading tourism enterprise Overseas Chinese Town Group (OCT), Hangzhou Jingjiang Group which specializes in clean energy and 315.com.cn, an online bulk commodity platform.

"Our city ranks first in the province in growth rate of foreign trade, which increased by 161.6 percent in 2016," said Liu Nanchang, Sanmenxia municipal Party secretary.

Sanmenxia boasts a sound ecology with a forest coverage rate of 50.72 percent, the highest in Henan province. The wetland nature reserve attracts over 10,000 white swans every year to winter here, Liu added.
