14th CISMEF to be held in Guangzhou

The press conference for the 14th China International Small and Medium Enterprise Fair (CISMEF) was held in Guangzhou on Sept 29.

Zhong Xuanhui, secretary-general of the CISMEF Organizing Committee and deputy secretary-general of the People's Government of Guangdong Province reported the preparations for the 14th CISMEF, and Chen Jiangfan, deputy director of the Information Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province hosted the conference.

The 14th CISMEF is hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Administration for Industry & Commerce, the People's Government of Guangdong Province, the Ministry of Small Business Development of South Africa and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

A total of 2,925 domestic and foreign enterprises have signed up for the event with 6,282 booths, including 2,276 domestic enterprises with 5,254 booths and 649 foreign enterprises with 1,028 booths. The overseas enterprises hail from 30 countries and regions, including South Africa, UNIDO, Egypt, Malaysia, Greece, Japan, Poland, Germany, Indonesia, Russia and South Korea.

More than 12,000 merchants have registered for the event, as well as a total of 265 domestic and foreign enterprises and 539 individuals have signed up for 10 matchmaking events including Intelligent Manufacturing Products Matchmaking and Energy-conserving and Environmentally-friendly Products Matchmaking. WeChat registration was opened for the first time this year and more than 6,000 professional merchants registered using the social media platform.

The preparatory work of six key forums and events including China SME Summit and SMEs Cross-border Matchmaking Activity and 50 supporting events of the specialized exhibitions, as well as seven overseas exhibition group promotion events have been completed. Domestic and foreign government officials and renowned experts will attend these events to offer new ideas and viewpoints for SME development.

Thabo Thage, Consul-General of the Consulate General of the Republic of South Africa in Shanghai and Ma Jian, deputy representative of UNDIO Beijing Office introduced the preparations for the 14th CISMEF. Ye Dingda, deputy director-general of the SME Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Li Nan, director general of General Division for Regulation of the Private Economy of State Administration for Industry and Commerce answered reporters' questions about measures for micro and small enterprises development.

Themed as "Intelligence, Wisdom, Smart Manufacturing, Energy Conservation", the 14th CISMEF offers exhibition area of 150,000 square meters. International and domestic exhibitions will be held at the Poly World Trade Center Expo from Oct 10 to 13; Intelligent Manufacturing and "Internet+" Exhibition, Smart Building Materials and Home Decoration Exhibition, Energy Conservation Exhibition will be held in two sessions at the Guangdong Tanzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center from Oct 12 to 15 and Oct 20 to 23.
