Trumpchi, a car brand owned by Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC Group), topped all other Chinese automobile brands for the fifth year running, according to the Initial Quality Study (IQS) report released by JD Power on Sept 28.
JD Power is an authoritative market survey institution providing car research, quality ratings, reviews and latest industry news. The annual JD Power survey measures car quality by analyzing problems reported by owners within the first 90 days of ownership. Manufacturers worldwide use the customer information and data analysis from the survey to design and produce the best cars possible.

The 2017 survey showed a significant decline in the quality gap between new cars of Chinese and international automobile brands, with the number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) for Chinese and international car brands just 13 points apart.
The report not only unveiled the achievements by Chinese auto brands in improving automobile quality, but also showed GAC Trumpchi's leading role in China's automobile industry in terms of car quality and brand image.
Since its inception in December 2010, GAC Trumpchi has stuck to its strategy of high-end positioning, premium quality and innovation-driven development.
"GAC Trumpchi's ideology puts customers and quality first to increase the core competitiveness of our brand," said Yu Jun, vice director of the executive committee of GAC Group.
The company has explored new quality controls and set up strict rules. In 2016, the spare parts defective ratio of GAC Trumpchi suppliers was 22 parts per million (ppm) and this year, the company will work hard to cut the figure to 10 ppm.
In terms of design and customer service, the company has also worked hard to make products featuring high cost performance and high quality and established an active service mechanism to solve customers' problems and improve customer experience.
