The southern Chinese city of Guangzhou is to build a special town integrating of airport industry services, apartments, business offices, distinctive homestays and tourism resort, it was announced on Sept 27.
Located in the city's Renhe town of Baiyun district, the special town will be committed to spreading Cantonese and modern aviation culture and is hoped to become a new name card for Guangzhou.
The town will only be three kilometers from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Construction of the town will center on the preservation of the old buildings with Cantonese features and the introduction of modern business complexes.
The initial phase of the project will be completed by 2018 and by then the town will be home to an intangible cultural heritage exhibition hall, art gallery, business office, aviation education base as well as a departure lounge.
