Wang Yao, president of the China Photographers Association, gave a speech at the opening of the 2017 China (Sanmenxia) White Swan Wildlife Photo competition, which was held on Sept 28.
Wang showed her admiration for Sanmenxia, describing it as an eco-friendly city with a long history. In recent years, Sanmenxia has gained the moniker "swan city" thanks to the flocks of migrating birds that make their temporary homes on its wetlands.
"I believe that every city has its advantages and disadvantages," Wang said. "Apart from economic statistics, the ecological environment is also very important."
The photo contest, themed on white swan wildlife photography, is encouraging entries from amateur and pro photographers from all walks of life.
