A robot with facial recognition technology patrolled the exhibition hall and attracted a great deal of public attention. The robot was developed by Guangzhou-based technology company Dream One Robot and is used for security and protection purposes.
Equipped with four high-definition cameras and one pan-tilt-zoom camera, the robot offers 360-degree surveillance and can identify human faces in a static state with an accuracy rate reaching 99.5 percent.
According to Liu Yajun, manager of Dream One Robot, the robot is priced at 300,000 yuan ($45,000) and is mainly targeted at government departments. Two of them have already been used by the Guangdong customs department.
Robots developed by Gosuncn, another Guangzhou-based robot company, were also on show at the expo. The robots offer customized functions such as automatic patrolling and intelligent analysis integrated with technologies such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
Other great exhibits included companion robots which can talk and communicate with humans, earthquake detecting robots, fish-shaped robots that can monitor water quality and look for lost articles underwater.
