E-commerce brings convenience to Binhu communities

The heads of the commerce departments of the Jiangsu province and Wuxi governments were given a tour of the new e-commerce businesses flourishing in two communities in Binhu district, Wuxi, Wuxi Daily reported on Sept 24.

Swan Lake and Vanke communities have both been named "e-commerce demonstration communities" by the Wuxi government, and the two neighborhoods have made great strides in promoting e-commerce.

Both communities have helped e-commerce companies such as Shunfeng Best, Yijia and Pagoda to establish operations in the are to make residents' lives more convenient.

Swan Lake community has also installed 12 cold chain storage cabinets, which can store fresh food ordered through e-commerce services until local residents come to collect it. The cabinets now cover the entire community.

Around 98 percent of the 400 shops in Swan Lake now accept payment through mobile payment services such as Alipay and WeChat, and 85 percent of local residents say they have used mobile payment to order goods online.

The community has also built its own online-to-offline e-commerce service, building an official WeChat account that reisdents can use to register for local events, pay local agents and other services businesses, and book hotel rooms and beauty treatments.

The WeChat account already has more than 6,000 subscribers and has sent over 500 messages.

Vanke community is also promoting the development of e-commerce under its sound community business service equipment.
