The 2017 China Sports Culture Expo and China Sports Tourism Expo opened in Baotou on Sept 23, marking new progress in its sports industry, reports Baotou Daily.
Tan Jingfeng, director of the Sports Bureau of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, presided over the opening ceremony.
Zhao Yong, deputy director of the General Administration of Sport of China, addressed the ceremony, calling for further integration of sports, culture and tourism.
A summit forum was held on the same day, attended by the leaders and guests present, discussing the development of sports culture in China.
The three-day expo will include themed exhibitions and forums.
Baotou, the largest industrial city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has spared no efforts in improving its sports industry by promoting sports and hosting related competitions for local residents.
Rapid development in the sports industry has won Baotou city numerous national-level honors including as one of the 45 sports industry contact cities in China, designated by the General Administration of Sport of China, and as one of the top 10 Sports Leisure Cities in China ranked by China Sports Daily and Xinhua News Agency.
