Extra-special Baijiao Sea Bass is a leading brand

Baijiao Sea Bass in Doumen District was listed among the Top 100 Regional Public Brands of Chinese Agricultural Products 2017 on Sept 20.

The only listed item from Zhuhai shares the honor with Guangdong brands Deqing County Tribute Oranges in Zhaoqing, Qingyuan Chicken, and Yunfu Rice from Luoding County.

The award recipients represent a wide range of farm produces including grains, oil, vegetables, fruits, meat, aquatic and marine products, and Chinese herbal medicine. They have strong market appeal, influence, and credibility, and are all marked with Geographical Indications of Agricultural Products or in the process of application.

The strict selection procedure involved recommendations from provincial, municipal, and district divisions; review and grading, individual assessment, and online public voting. The process also counseled relevant departments of the Ministry of Agriculture and associations.

An expert commented that a thousand years of farming culture can be traced via Baijiao Sea Bass giving insight into local agricultural products and farming techniques that have evolved into today's unique practices.

The national effort was initiated by the organizing committee of the 15th China International Agricultural Trade Fair in Beijing in July this year. It is based on the national agricultural system and in accordance with the general plan of this agricultural brand promotion year.
