Dunhuang murals boutique tour, part of the second China-Mongolia Expo, opened at Inner Mongolia Normal University in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Sept 18.

Officials from Dunhuang Academy, China Dunhuang Grottoes Conservation Research Foundation, and Inner Mongolia Normal University attended the opening ceremony.

"Dunhuang art is an infinite source of modern artistic creation. Inner Mongolia Normal University will continue to enhance cooperation in exploring the ancient art with Dunhuang Academy," said Yun Guohong, president of Inner Mongolia Normal University.

"Dunhuang, on the ancient Silk Road, was an important meeting point for East and West," said Yang Xiuqing, secretary-general of China Dunhuang Grottoes Conservation Research Foundation.

"The paintings and sculptures of Dunhuang Caves, especially Mogao Caves record the cultural exchanges and integration between ethnic groups along the ancient Silk Road," she said.

The exhibition displayed 66 classic works of Dunhuang art, a replica of the No 258 cave from the Mogao Caves complex, and silk paintings and documents about the Buddhist Scriptures unearthed from Dunhuang Sutra Cave.
