City gov't, two firms in line for national recognition

The Zhuhai Municipal Government, Gree Electric Appliances, and Zhuhai Rossini Watch Industry have been shortlisted for the 3rd China Quality Nomination Awards. 

They are among 144 organizations and individuals, including 12 from Guangdong Province, in the running for 90 China Quality Nomination Awards.

The program was set up upon approval of the central government in 2012 as the top honor in quality. The final award recognizes up to 10 organizations or individuals, with 90 nomination citations.

The award has been presented by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection & Quarantine of the PRC twice since 2013.

Organizations in manufacturing, service and national defense industries, engineering construction, medical and educational institutions, municipal government, front-line teams, and weapons and equipment sectors are eligible to apply.

Stages in the selection procedure cover: application, recommendation and nomination, formal examination and acceptance, review of materials, presentation, on-site review, vote, and notification.

The new category of municipal government this year saw 19 cities apply. Zhuhai is the only one in Guangdong to be recommended by the provincial government. Also being considered are Chengdu in Sichuan Province, Ningbo and Yongkang in Zhejiang, and Taizhou in Jiangsu.

Gree Electric Appliances and Zhuhai Rossini Watch Industry are among six entries from Guangdong in the manufacturing industry category.
