A badminton championship targeting teenagers in Baotou city opened on Sept 16, reports Baotou Daily.
“I didn’t play well at the matches, but it is a good opportunity to exchange views and learn from each other,” said Gao Zixuan, who participated in the badminton championship for the first time.
Initiated in 2015, the badminton championship is now in its third session. A total of 149 teenage badminton players from 11 clubs will compete in the league.
“Baotou has been the frontrunner in badminton in the autonomous region,” said Xing Wei, an official from the sports bureau of Baotou.
Baotou started to host table tennis, badminton and tennis matches for teenagers in 2015. Taking the players’ ages into account, the matches are divided into different groups – U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17. The point matches are held in the first three quarters of the year, and the finals are in the fourth quarter.
