Registration for the 2018 Xiamen International Marathon, which is scheduled to be held in the coastal city of Xiamen in Fujian province on Jan 7, opened to the public on Sept 12.
Participants are able to preregister for the race via the race's official website (www.xmim.org) before 12:00 pm on Sept 22, 2017.
The first ten people who preregister will be entitled to skip the lottery to decide who gets a place on the start line in January, and will get direct entry to the race.
A total of 30,000 people from across the world are expected to take part in the grand event in Xiamen.
The 2018 edition of the marathon will feature some changes, according to a press release published on Sep 12.
A special prize for the first Chinese athletes to finish the race will be set up, with a maximum prize of 50,000 yuan.
Those who register successfully for the race will also be entitled to participate in the 2019 edition of the marathon, even if they are not able to attend the race in January, 2018.
Launched in 2003, the Xiamen International Marathon is an annual marathon held in January. The event is one of China's premier marathons and is considered a Gold Label Road Race by the IAAF.
