Golden Rooster Film Festival opens in Hohhot

The 26th Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival opened on Sept 13 in Hohhot, capital of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Famous Chinese actors and directors, including Xu Huaishan, Huang Baixiang, and Yingzhuang, attended the ceremony and an evening gala for the film festival.

The festival will last until Sept 16 and will host a series of activities the nominations ceremony, a red carpet event and the awards ceremony.

"A total of 264 movies have been received by the organizing committee to take part in the film awards competition,” disclosed Rao Shuguang, vice-director of the organizing committee of the 26 Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival.

A total of 19 awards will be given, including Best Screenplay, Best Director and Best Film Editing, according to Rao.

Meanwhile, the Golden Rooster Film Award will be given to one of the lucky films.
