Russian State Ballet tours Guangdong

Ballet enthusiasts in southern Chinese city of Guangzhou were treated to a great ballet show on Sept 8 as Guangzhou Beilei Theater stages Swan Lake performed by world-renowned ballet troupe -- Russian State Ballet.

The troupe is scheduled to tour around Guangdong province during Sept 8 to 17, bringing a range of classical ballets including the Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty for the audiences in Guangzhou, Foshan, Shenzhen and Dongguan.

From Dec 30 to Jan 1, 2018, the troupe will come back to Guangzhou and present a special New Year show.

The ballet, created by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky 100 years ago, has many versions, and the performance given on Sept 8 in Guangzhou was the original version, according to a Russian State Ballet spokesperson.

She added that the classics should remain unchanged so that the audiences, especially the younger generation can learn and appreciate the originality classics bring.
