Bu delivers a speech at UNCCD COP 13

Inner Mongolia has dedicated itself to controlling desertification and promoting afforestation to improve the regional environment, said Bu Xiaolin chairwoman of Inner Mongolia People’s Government at the UNCCD COP 13 in Ordos on Sept 6. 

Sandy areas have been reduced over the past decade and the autonomous region’s ability to prevent further desertification has increased. Efforts at sand control in the Kubuqi Desert were recognized by the United Nations, Bu added.

Bu pointed out that the UNCCD COP 13 provides an opportunity for Inner Mongolia to learn from the experience of desertification control in other regions. And she called for joint action from all parties to fight global desertification.
