The Xiuwen Kiwi Fruit E-commerce Feast will be held in Xiuwen county, Guizhou province, on Sept 13, according to a press conference held on Sept 5.
The feast aims to expand the market of Xiuwen kiwi fruit and promote the development of e-commerce in Guizhou.
China's top 100 e-commerce retailers and 50 well-known Guizhou e-commerce companies will take part in the three-day feast to discuss the potential of selling kiwi fruit with the help of e-commerce.
"Xiuwen kiwi fruit has become a popular brand nationwide," said Xiao Lunwen, vice county mayor of Xiuwen. "The marriage of traditional selling methods and online sale is bound to increase the incomes of local fruit farmers and boost the regional economy."
In 2011, Xiuwen kiwi fruit successfully registered its own "Guichang Kiwi" brand. The brand was recognized as a National Protection of Geographical Indications Product by AQSIQ in 2014.
At present, the planting area for Xiuwen kiwi fruit has reached 16,700 mu (1,113.33 hectares), ranking fourth in China. In 2016, the output of Xiuwen kiwi fruit was 40,000 tons, earning about 1.2 billion yuan ($183.84 million). It is expected to reach an output of 60,000 tons in 2017, an increased production rate of 50 percent valued at about 1.8 billion yuan.
Last year, Xiuwen kiwi fruit was exported to Hong Kong, Taiwan and other foreign countries such as Malaysia. The county has the ambition to expand its planting area to 200,000 mu and bring in an annual output value of 10 billion yuan by 2020.
