Competition unveils the list of best souvenirs in Guangzhou

Visitors coming to Guangzhou will never again feel at a loss when it comes to buying souvenirs or local specialties since the awarding ceremony of a tourism product themed competition was launched on Sept 6 in the southern Chinese city.

Held by the Tourism Administration of Guangzhou, the 2017 Guangzhou Tourism Product Innovation Design Competition unveiled a total of 76 prize-winners covering areas including local specialty, souvenirs and arts and crafts. The prize-winners have formed a perfect what-to-buy list for visitors touring Guangzhou.

Initiated in February this year, the competition has attracted nearly 1,000 entries from more than 300 designers. Most of the entries are delicately designed and feature novelty, ingenuity and practicability.   

The gold prize winners of the event include a set of Canton Tower-themed bamboo rulers, Conghua Litchi Honey, and stamps featuring Eight Scenes of Guangzhou and Cantonese Embroidery.

Among the prize winners, the bamboo ruler set priced at 45 yuan ($7) is the most popular. As of now, more than 10,000 sets have already been sold.

According to Hua Sui, head of Guangzhou Association of Tourist Attraction, a special online platform is being constructed which will enable tourists to buy these products via their mobile phones.
