The Beijing Institute of Technology Zhuhai Campus has established a major for wingmanship and will accept enrollment applications toward the end of this month.
The institute is the only one in Guangdong Province qualified, since March, to recruit potential pilots, it was announced on Sept 6.
The School of Aviation was formed by the Beijing Institute of Technology Zhuhai Campus and China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Co Ltd in July 2009. With rich education resources and dominance in the domestic civil aviation industry, the school cultivates versatile aviation professionals. It now has more than 320 students.
The addition of a new major was made regarding the need for Aircraft Manufacturing Engineering & Civil Aviation Transportation specialties to meet market demands, according to Yang Zuo, dean of the School of Aviation.
The first three years of the four-year term are for basic theory. The senior term is to be spent in a cooperative airline work-study program. Job-oriented training for China Express and Ruili airlines will be provided.

Operations cost between 750,000 yuan ($115,390) and 850,000 yuan ($130,770), which will be covered by the airlines.
The school is in negotiations with Shenzhen, SF, Donghai, and Chongqing airlines for training agreements. More partnerships are intended to nurture local pilots.
