China's leading provider of digital maps, navigation, and location-based services will soon allow waiting passengers to check real-time info for bus arrivals and taxi locations in Zhuhai.
The Transport Planning Research & Information Center signed a strategic partnership agreement on Aug 30 with Amap to share urban transport data.
On one hand, the Info Center will send Amap public transport information in real time so that the up-to-date status of bus arrivals and where taxis are will be available to all Amap app users.
In return, Amap will provide the Info Center with "Big Data" on roads and traffic. By excavating and analyzing such data in depth, the transport administration should be better at comprehensive management and decision-making.
For example, relying on Amap's technology, the transport administration should know the number of travelers, transportation modes, and popular routes during traffic peaks such as Spring Festival and other long vacations. In this way, more rational and sensible decisions could be made by the authorities.

Moreover, in case of traffic congestion caused by emergency incidents, the transport administration could notify motorists through the Amap app to detour around congested streets.
