A register with the names and information of more than 1,000 Hong Kong-based companies in the service industry which have invested in the Pearl River Delta area was released in Guangzhou on Aug 29.

In the past few years, Guangdong's economy has faced restructuring and the service industry has continued to boom. In 2016, the service industry contributed to 52 percent of the province's GDP, which offers a wide range of business opportunities for Hong Kong-based service companies.
"The register has been compiled and released for four consecutive years and it is aimed at establishing a database for companies and people in the Chinese mainland to contact Hong Kong-based companies," said Albert Tang, director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Guangdong. Tang added that he hoped the database could function as a tool to enhance the cooperation between Hong Kong and Guangdong-based service enterprises.
