Guangzhou, capital city of South China's Guangdong province, is sparing no efforts to lure top teachers, according to Southcn.com.
On Aug 28, the Guangzhou municipal education bureau rolled out a policy to encourage more top teachers and headmasters to settle in the city.
According to the policy, top teachers and headmasters are divided into two categories – elite talents and backbone talents. The two types of talents will be offered 1.5 million yuan ($230,000) and 800,000 yuan respectively for housing when they are recruited.
Apart from municipal level policies, many districts in Guangzhou also issued schemes to attract top teachers such as Huadu district and Zengcheng district, which both offer a 2-million-yuan housing allowance for elite teachers.
Earlier in June, Tianhe district released a public notice to recruit a total of 83 primary and middle school teachers and headmasters. For the elite teachers recruited, the district offers an apartment to rent free of charge for 10 years or an 8,000-yuan annual home allowance for 10 years. The district has been introducing excellent teachers from universities across China since the 1990s.
