Beginning on July 6, 2016, Guizhou province set out to build China's first science fiction theme park in Shuanglong Science Fiction Valley in the capital city of Guiyang with a total investment of 10 billion yuan ($ 1.5 billion).
The first construction phase of the project consists of the VR-based science fiction theme park spreading across 500 mu (33.33 hectares).
The 1,500-mu second phase will see the building of an entertainment industrial cluster for the development and application of science fiction technology.
