Guangzhou, host city of the Fortune Global Forum 2017 has marked the 100-day countdown until it hosts the famous business event from Dec 6 to 8.
At a grand lighting ceremony held on the night of Aug 27, exteriors of the city's landmark buildings such as the Canton Tower, Guangzhou International Finance Center and Tianhe Sports Center were lit up with LED screens displaying the landmark countdown.
Local officials and members of the Fortune Global Forum 2017 organizing committee, including Guangzhou Mayor Wen Guohui and the city's publicity head Xu Yonghong attended the ceremony. To mark the countdown, business and political leaders worldwide sent video clips containing their regards and eagerness to attend the event.
As one of the most influential forums on economic development in the world, the Fortune Global Forum 2017 focus on the innovation revolution, the future of globalization, 21st-century leadership and sustainable development. It will discuss key issues facing multinational companies during a crucial time of change in China and the global economy.
As of Aug 23, CEOs from more than 210 of the world's leading enterprises have registered to attend the forum, including 129 from Fortune 500 companies such as Walmart, Philips, Allstate, Qualcomm, Saudi Basic Industries and Anheuser-Busch InBev.
Upon the initiation of Guangzhou and Chicago, a roundtable for global mayors is scheduled to open during the forum to deepen economic cooperation and exchanges between cities under the context of global economic integration. So far Guangzhou has launched 12 roadshows in major cities worldwide including Paris, Hong Kong, New York, Tokyo and London, to promote the 2017 event.
