Environmental tech expo to be held in Guangzhou

The third IE Expo Guangzhou, an event promoting environmental technology solutions, is due to be held from Sept 20 to 22 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex (Canton Fair Complex).

IE expo has been exploring China's environmental industries for 17 years and has become the most influential and upscale platform for environmental technology solutions in Asia.

Due to the growing environmental awareness and sustainable-business-orientated policies implemented across China, the IE expo, along with the Guangdong Association of Environmental Protection Industry, launched the first Guangzhou International Environmental Protection Exhibition and IE Expo Innovation Conference in 2015.

In 2016, the Guangzhou International Environmental Protection Exhibition and IE Expo Innovation Conference was officially named as IE Expo Guangzhou.

A total of 301 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions were showcased at the last year's event, an increase of 50 percent, with 19,923 trade visitors, up 32 percent on 2015.

This year's event will have three exhibition halls, covering 30,000 square meters and more than 400 exhibitors from 20 countries will take part. The expo will consist of a total of seven exhibition areas including a water and sewage treatment area, air pollution control and air purification area and soil remediation area.

The organizers will also hold an innovation technology conference which will center on five parallel sessions on water, solid waste, air, environmental monitoring and environmental protection. Nearly 30 forums will be held during the conference to analyze the technological challenges faced by South China's environmental protection industry.

Qu Yuezhou, head of the Guangdong Association of Environmental Protection Industry, said the total output value of Guangdong's environmental protection industry reached 600 billion yuan ($90 billion) last year, but enterprises with annual output surpassing 100 million yuan only take up five percent of the total number. Guangdong still lacks leading environmental protection enterprises that feature integrated research and development, production and services. IE Expo Guangzhou reflects the resolution of local government and enterprises to support and develop the environmental protection industry.
