Zhanjiang municipal government recently released a plan for major industrial projects, aiming to extend the industrial chain for iron, steel, petrochemicals and papermaking industries, and bolster the city as a growth center among cities in the Beibu Gulf.
In pursuit of the goal, the plan specifies six measures, which call for an optimized administrative environment, reduced corporate taxes, an established implementing mechanism, enhanced talent service and more support for corporate land use and financial loans, said an official with Zhanjiang Development and Reform Commission.
With Zhanjiang entering a new period of rapid development, a large quantity of skilled personnel is needed. The city will improve the talent fostering ability of technical schools, roll out preferential policies targeting high-level talents and attract more foreign experts to Zhanjiang, according to the plan.
Moreover, the plan clarifies the position and tasks for the 13-sq-km Sengong Industrial Park in Mazhang district. While focusing on the papermaking project of Zhanjiang Chenming Group, the park is urged to attract investment mainly from sectors such as forest, pulp and paper, biological new materials, package printing, logistics and comprehensive supporting services.
Mazhang district will further support the development of Chenming and seize the opportunity brought by the Pearl River Delta and the integrated growth of Eastern-Western-Northern Guangdong to promote the clustering of industrial chains, said an official from Mazhang district.
