Guangzhou, capital city of South China's Guangdong province, is set to hold the Asia-Pacific qualification rounds of Bocuse d'Or in May next year.
Bocuse d'Or, named after famous French chef Paul Bocuse, is the most prestigious biennial gastronomic competition in the world. The event is held in Lyon, France and is regarded as the culinary equivalent of the Olympic Games.

Holding the qualifications for the great event is the result of cooperation between Guangzhou-based tourism and hotel company Lingnan Group and GL Events, the world-class provider of integrated solutions and services for conferences, trade fairs and exhibition.
Dozens of chefs hailing from 12 countries will descend on Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center for the event to be held from May 8 to 9. Additionally, a special dinner party featuring Michelin-starred chefs will be held at the LN Garden Hotel.
"Guangzhou is a city of delicious food," said Philip Paskett, executive director of GL Events. He added that holding the competition in Guangzhou in 2018, when Guangzhou and Lyon will celebrate being sister cities for 30 years, will help enhance the bond between the two cities.
