Singapore Manufacturing Innovation Center (SMIC), set up by International Enterprise Singapore and Asia's leading sustainable urban and business space solutions provider Ascendas-Singbridge Group, settled in Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City on Aug 21.
The center will be the first platform in the country to promote cooperation between Chinese and Singaporean enterprises and provide them with one-stop services in terms of Industry 4.0 solutions.
Industry 4.0 is a name given to the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies. It includes cyber-physical systems, internet of things, cloud computing and cognitive computing.
The center has introduced the first batch of five Singaporean enterprises which feature advantages complementary to each other. The companies will cooperate with Chinese enterprises in areas including robotic technology, industrial automation, augmented reality, industrial internet of things and big data.
Lee Ark Boon, CEO of International Enterprise Singapore, said that the knowledge-intensive manufacturing industry takes up 20 percent of Singapore's GDP and the city-state's manufacturing companies have accumulated many professional technologies and had good performances. He hoped they could become good partners with Guangzhou enterprises.
