Under the theme "Salute to Dream", the 2017 Guangdong Fashion Week and Guangzhou Liuhua International Apparel Festival was held in Guangzhou, capital city of South China's Guangdong province, on Aug 19, according to local media.
The annual event, which runs until Aug 26, attracted numerous renowned designers from home and abroad, entrepreneurs in the clothing industry, fashion enthusiasts and reporters.
During the festival, the 2017 Guangdong Clothing Supply-side Reform Innovation Convention will be held, showcasing the accomplishments that have been made in the clothing industry in Guangdong.
The festival also centers on seeking overseas business opportunities and integrating international fashion resources. The Belt and Road Textile and Apparel Market Development Forum, held on Aug 20 at Guangzhou Baima Clothing Wholesale Market, will be a platform for representatives of China's clothing industry to talk about the development of the industry under the influence of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Other highlights of the festival include a portrait painting exhibition featuring works created by Li Dangqi, professor of Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University. Li is a renowned master in both the fashion and the art world and his exhibition has strong connections with clothing culture and modern art.
Located in Yuexiu district of Guangzhou, the Liuhua clothing business zone has grown to become China's largest clothing trade venue and incubator of Chinese clothing brands. It has been nine years since the Guangzhou Liuhua International Apprael Festival was first held in 2008 – the annual event has become a gilded signboard of China's clothing industry.
