Xianyou County Lisheng Opera Troupe of Fujian Province

The Xianyou County Lisheng Opera Troupe of Fujian Province, a major performing troupe of the ancient Puxian opera, was founded in September 1952.

Over the past 40 years and more, the troupe has created and adapted many fine plays such as Reunion, Chun Cao Breaking in Court, Heavenly Book on Qianyou Mountain, Lady Ye Liniang, Mu Lian, Sufferings of Chen Guanglei and Twin Iron-Whips Versus Double Spears. Many of these plays were awarded various provincial, regional and national prizes for script, director, performance, music and choreography. Among others, Chun Cao Breaking in Court won the First Prize for play and performance on the occasion of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The troupe also tour Taiwan with great success. 

The Lisheng Opera Troupe has nurtured such well-known playwrights like Chen Renjian and Zheng Huaixing and a large number of talented performers and musicians like Lin Dongzhi, Zhu Shifeng, Lin Yuan, Fu Qiyun, Wang Guojin, Chen Kaiyang, Xu Xiuying, Chen Qixing, Wang Shaoyuan and Xie Bao.
