I. Beating-expectation growth of domestic travels
According to the sample survey on domestic travels, in the first half of 2017, domestic travels in China amounted to 2.537 billion, up 13.5% from the same period of last year. Among them, 1.757 billion travels were made by urban residents, up 15.8% and 780 million by rural residents, up 8.5%. The revenue generated from domestic travels hit RMB 2.17 trillion, up 15.8%, RMB 1.71 trillion of which was spent by urban tourists, up 16.1% and RMB 0.46 trillion by rural tourists, up 14.8%.
II. Steady growth of inbound travels
In the first half of 2017, China received 69.5 million inbound tourists, up 2.4% from the same period of last year, including 14.25 million foreign tourists, up 5.8%, and generated USD 60.1 billion from international travels, up 4.3%.
III. Stable growth of outbound travels
In the first half of 2017, Chinese tourists made 62.03 million outbound travels, up 5.1% from the same period of last year.
