Qinju Opera Troupe of Gansu Province

The Qinju Opera Troupe of Gansu Province was founded in August 1953, formerly known as No.2 Qinju Opera Team of Longdong Cultural Troupe of Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia Border Region.

Soon after it was founded, the Troupe staged some well-known operas such as Poet Qu Yuan, Sister Jiang, Beauty Diao Chan, Half Pair of Scissors, Li Xiucheng, and Shan Shiting. Since 1980, the Troupe has staged some traditional operas like The Orphan of Zhao Family, The Injustice Done to Dou Er, Return to Jinzhou, Zhou Ren Back Home, Zhao Fei Calls in Reinforcement, Story pf Yu Tangchun, Mountain Pine Trees, Yangjin Zhuoma, A General for Peace, White Flower Tune, Loyalty for Generations, Broken Bridge, Interrogation and Finding Gold. The satirical comedy Hanging Circles won the first prize for one-act play in 1992. The newly created historical opera White Flower Melody won the best play award at the National Bangzi Opera Festival in 1995; and the principal performer Dou Fengqin won the 14th Plum Blossom Award.

Major artists of the theater include first grade performer Dou Fengqin; second grade performer Tan Jianxun, Xu Hui, Rong Mianhui, He Zhonghong, Li Lin; second grade musician Sima and technicians Cheng Jun and Du Yutang.
