Sanmenxia fights to protect wetlands

The Sanmenxia government recently launched a "One-Hundred Day" campaign stressing the protection of the Yellow River Wetland National Nature Reserve in Sanmenxia, Henan province.

The Yellow River Wetland National Nature Reserve covers a total area of 68,000 hectares across Luoyang, Jiyuan, Jiaozuoas and Sanmenxia, which is home to 28,500 hectares of the reserve.

Aimed at easing pollution and shrinkage of the wetlands, all concerned enterprises and government departments at all levels are striving to restore the natural wetland ecosystem, protect the city's unique wetland varieties and finish the task before Nov 17.
