A one-fifth reduction of energy consumption has been achieved by Zhuhai Cellulose Fibers Co Ltd, which has just been listed by the Ministry of Industry & Information Technology as a National Green Manufacturing Systematic Integration Project.
Cellulose Fibers Co integrates key "green technologies" (those that are environmentally friendly or corrective) in the manufacture of acetate fiber. Such fibers are obtained from plants and used for film, eyeglass frames, cigarette filters and playing cards, according to Wikipedia.com.
Last year, Zhuhai Cellulose Fibers garnered sales revenue of more than 1.4 billion yuan ($209 million). The company is currently relocating to the Gaolan Port Economic Zone from Jinji Road in Xiangzhou District. Covering 280,000 sq m with investment of 1.7 billion yuan ($253.6 million), the new facility came under construction in 2015 and into partial operation five months ahead of schedule. The relocation is to be completed in 2018.

The company has attained the most advanced intelligent control center for acetate fiber manufacture in the world, according to general manager Wang Jun. It will obtain a large sum of dedicated funds from the Ministry of Finance.
Intent on promoting green upgrades in manufacturing and fostering competitive edges, the National Green Manufacturing Systematic Integration Project is part of the "Made in China 2025" strategy, said Wang.
The project favors machinery, electronics, chemicals, foods, textile, home appliances, large-sized complete-set equipment, and related industries.
Industry leaders with core competences are asked to construct green design platforms, innovate key green techniques, and establish green supply chain systems.
