New cultural landmark to open in Baiyun district

For those seeking to know the early beginnings of Guangzhou and how the city will look like in the future, the place to turn to is the new Guangzhou City Planning Exhibition Center.

The new cultural landmark located in the city's Baiyun district will open to public in a month, according to city officials.

Covering a construction area of 84,000 square meters, the building has 11 floors including three underground floors. It is the largest exhibition center integrating the functions of city planning exhibition, academic communication, urban construction archives and local chronicles museum.

The Guangzhou Local Chronicles Museum has already been on a trail operation with visitors across the city coming to catch a glimpse. The museum reflects the concepts of mountain, water and city, showcasing Guangzhou's history and distinctive Lingnan culture to visitors. Visitors saw on display the time-honored shops in Guangzhou and distinctive local souvenirs.

Besides traditional display method such as display panels and videos, new technologies such as 4D, large-size city model will be used in the exhibition center to provide visitors with better understanding of Guangzhou's history, cultural relics of the city's construction, modern construction achievement and future city planning. 

According to Cai Weiqiao, secretary of Yuncheng Street Party Working Committee, the exhibition center is set to attract more visitors once completed, promote the image of Baiyun district and bring more development opportunities to the local region.
