Pudong has an overall green coverage rate of more than 36 percent, with a per capita public green space of 25 sq m.

Internationally-oriented residential communities

Many foreign expatriates in Pudong live in well-developed international communities, including the Binjiang Community, Green City, Lianyang-Huamu International Community, Oriental Century International Community (Tangzhen Township), and Zhangjiang Community. New international communities, including the Senlan Community and New Bund Community, are under construction.

A vibrant cultural life supported by various cultural facilities

Pudong is home to many of the city’s iconic cultural facilities, including the China Pavilion of Shanghai Expo, Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai Oriental Television Station, Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, Shanghai International Convention Center, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, Oriental Art Center, and Pudong Library. Shanghai Museum (East Campus), Shanghai Library (East Campus), Shanghai Grand Opera House and Shanghai Light Music Orchestra will be located in Pudong.

The district has held many interesting cultural events, such as the Pudong Culture & Art Festival, Simple Life Music Festival, Peach-Blossom Festival, Pudong Literature Festival, ChinaJoy, World Dance Competition, and Shanghai International Comedy Festival.
