Baotou unveils its largest sports meeting

The opening ceremony of the 13th session of Baotou Sports Meeting opened on July 28, the most important sports event in the city’s calendar, reports Baotou Daily.

Held once every four years, the sports event, now in its 13th session, is to set new records with 21 categories and more than 400 events to be held.

Bao Yuanqing, deputy mayor of Baotou, addressed the opening ceremony of the sports meeting and called for citywide participation to enhance fitness awareness and promote healthy lifestyles.

The opening ceremony was followed by artistic performances celebrating Baotou and the grassland culture embedded in the city.

Hosted by the people’s government of Baotou, the four-month sports meeting started on June 10 and will run until October. Competitions in 11 different sports have already taken place including taekwondo, badminton, table tennis and swimming.
