The first phase of Guangzhou Metro Line 9 is one step closer to completion after the last section of track was laid from Huaguoshan Park to Huadu Square on July 26.

The construction project, which starts from Qishan train depot and terminates at Gaozeng Station, has a track length of 41.3 kilometers, according to Lin Yong, a spokesperson of Guangzhou Metro Line 9 phase one project.
Lin said that special shock absorption measures have been taken along 7.78 kilometers of track from Huadu Automobile City Station to Huacheng Road Station to ensure no noise disruption to residents in the downtown area.

Now that the track has been laid, the auxiliary work of installing rail lubricator and track bed cleaning has begun, to ensure the project is finished within schedule. A preliminary test for the project will begin in September, with the metro line will open to traffic by the end of 2017.
The first phase of Guangzhou Metro Line 9 extends a total of 20.1 kilometers, covering 11 stations including Fei'eling Station, Huadu Square Station and Gaozeng Station. The metro line will pave the way for the adjustment of Guangzhou's spatial layout and support the city's sustainable economic growth.
