Workers toil through scorching July weather

While many choose to escape July's mounting summer temperatures in an air-conditioned room, Wuxi's intrepid workers continue their daily work outside in the brutal heat.

With the Taihu lake tunnel project starting in October, which will be the longest and widest in China, workers are busy preparing Mashan highway so as to ensure the smooth progression of the project this autumn.

"Even though it has been extremely hot recently, we are working hard to make sure the project is finished on time," one senior on-site worker said while wiping sweat from his face.
