Mulao ethnic folk songs win global attention

Mulao ethnic folk songs and cultures were elevated to the global stage on July 23 during the China-Europe International Art Festival which took place in Italy.

Liao Zongyi, a local of Mulao ethnic group wowed the international audience, winning third prize in the singing competition at the yearly art festival held between China and European countries.

Liao is the first person of Mulao ethnicity to sing on the global arena and is reported to be the youngest among his 200 compatriots in the arts and culture event.

Liao grew up in a musical family in Luocheng Mulao autonomous county, Hechi, South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. His father is a famous folk singer in his hometown.
