A Sanmenxia-based enterprise has been striving to build a cold-chain logistics infrastructure and delivery system to ensure product quality and boost sales in Henan province.
Sanmenxia Hongfong Fruits and Vegetables Co Ltd has been constructing a cold-chain logistics center, which is divided into two phases, at a planned investment of 130 million yuan ($19.21 million).
The first phase of the center began operation in 2016, and is comprised of a 10 kiloton fresh storehouse, temperature control system and cold-chain distribution center.
Despite requiring huge sums of money to implement, cold-chain logistics can solve some of the trickiest problems in keep food fresh in the logistics sector, and boosting sales.
The logistics center purchases apples and vegetables directly from local farmers before transporting, storing and distributing the products at a proper price.
Products are exported overseas to countries such as Australia and Vietnam, which earn 100 million yuan per year, Sanmenxia Daily reported.
Once completed, the logistics center will create about 10,000 job opportunities.
