The Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra, formerly referred to as Guangzhou Student Symphony Orchestra will embark on a tour to Asia-Pacific countries from Aug 6.
The tour will grant them the opportunity to interact with other young local musicians from the various countries.
90 percent of the members of the symphony orchestra are students from Guangzhou's middle schools and primary schools. Founded by Guangzhou municipal commission of education and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra in May 2012, the orchestra has performed a total of 63 excellent shows for audiences in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macao and overseas countries, making it a calling card of Guangzhou's youth.

"Our performance in Berlin two years ago was staggering as our young musicians, who are still students at school, showed remarkably high professional level," said Chen Qin, head of Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. Chen added that the performance also indicates that Guangzhou has done a good job in popularization of art education.
On July 23, Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra will hold a concert in Xinghai Concert Hall, as a warm-up for the tour which includes performances in Guangzhou's sister city Sydney on Aug 6, Djakarta on Aug 11 and Singapore on Aug 13.
The performances will not only be a great opportunity for Guangzhou's teenagers to show their talents to the world, but a platform to promote cultural exchanges via music with young musicians from other countries, an official from Guangzhou municipal commission of education remarked.
