Construction of the Sino-Portuguese Trade Center got underway at Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Industrial Park during a ceremony in Hengqin New Area on July 18.
As one of the first batch of 33 projects commended by the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government to enter the park, the center will service business and trade between companies from China and Portuguese-speaking countries. The trade center will also introduce more commodities and services featuring Portuguese-speaking countries.

As always, the Macao Trade & Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) will give full support to the projects and help Macao-based companies develop faster and better in Hengqin New Area, said IPIM president Jackson Chang.
With an investment of over 1.7 billion yuan ($251 million), the project calls for a multi-dimensional commercial building integrating business offices offering bilingual secretarial and legal services, catering and food exhibition and sales platform, large shopping mall, and hotel. Construction teams are from China, Portugal, the Netherlands, Britain, and America.
The trade center was granted land-use rights in the park along with the Nam Kwong headquarters complex and We Park projects in February 2016.
