A delegation led by Zhuhai Party Chief Guo Yuanqiang visited Peru, Chile, and Brazil from July 5 to 15 to pursue closer relationships with Latin America while promoting the first China-Latin America International Fair to be held in Zhuhai on Nov 9-11.
The delegation first arrived at Lima, capital of Peru, to host the Zhuhai-Peru Economic & Trade Cooperation Conference on July 6. Guo held in-depth discussions with Zhu Xiaoyan, a cultural attaché in the Chinese embassy to Peru, political and business representatives from Peru-China Friendship Foundation, and Sociedad Central De Beneficencia China.

The China (Zhuhai)-Chile (Santiago) Economic & Trade Cooperation Conference held in Santiago, capital of Chili, on July 7 drew more than 150 entrepreneurs and association representatives from the mining industry, import-export trade, and financial services sector. Guo delivered a keynote speech.
Guo said cooperation between Zhuhai and Chile is rapidly developing. Next, Zhuhai will make the most of its advantages in transportation, opening-up, and business environment to deepen cooperation with Chile in mineral resources, agricultural products, and commercial logistics. Guo added that he hoped Chileans from different circles will come to Zhuhai and take an active part in the China-Latin America International Fair.
At the Brazil (Espírito Santo)-China (Zhuhai) Economic & Trade Cooperation Conference held on July 11, Guo pointed out that Zhuhai and Vitória of Espírito Santo are sister cities that cooperate in ports, tourism, and culture. There is huge potential and bright prospects for future cooperation, he said. It is hoped that the two parties will bolster cooperation in commercial logistics and tourism to jointly write a new chapter in friendship.
Guo continued his trip to São Paulo of Brazil and attended the China (Zhuhai)-Brazil (São Paulo) Economic & Trade Cooperation Conference on July 13. According to Guo, Brazil has abundant resources, a vast market, and well-developed agriculture and mining industry, which complements Zhuhai’s industries and lays a solid foundation for cooperation. Zhuhai will deepen its ties with Latin America in commercial logistics, agricultural products, aeronautical manufacturing, and tourism, making further contribution to bilateral relations, Guo said.
Guo stressed that Zhuhai will continue to cement cooperation with countries and cities from Latin America in economy, culture, and tourism. The two will take a leading role in construction of the Belt & Road Initiative to achieve win-win results.
The three-day China-Latin America International Fair is to take place at the Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Center, hosed by the China Chamber of International Commerce.
