More than 80 journalists from 31 provinces and municipalities took part in a media tour of Baotou, interviewing representatives from leading companies in the city including Baogang Group on July 14, reports Baotou Daily.
The delegation was shown around a beam-and-rail factory and a rare-earth steel sheet factory, both owned by the company.
Baogang Group, or Baotou Iron and Steel Group, is an iron and steel State-owned enterprise based in Baotou. It is the largest steel business based in the autonomous region, and one of the oldest iron and steel industrial bases in China, with a large production base of iron and steel, and the largest scientific research and production base of rare earth metals in China.
Hosted by the Department for Cyberspace Affairs of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the media tour started on July 11, and covered four major cities in the autonomous region, including Baotou and Hohhot.
